Double L Minis--Join Us

Meet our extra horses. They are either in training, used for training new drivers or growing up with a future on the team. They often come along to events, so they get the exposure to all the new and often scary sights and sounds. We want them to be comfortable with all that before they start driving on the team.

"Mac"

Fin MacCool, aka Mac, was 1 of our first minis. He is 32" tall and was lead on the team in 2003 . In 2004 he was 3rd in line and then was retired from the team, since he is little and had a hard time keeping up the pace. He is now used to train new drivers and also pulls a wagon in parades with Tinkerbelle. His color is a cross between palomino and buckskin. His mane and legs get darker every year, but not true black. His half brother Coolio was on the team in 2003 and 2005 . You can see him in those years under photos.

"Tinkerbelle"

Tinkerbelle or Tinks, is 31" tall and was lead on the team for 2 years before retiring, since she also had trouble keeping up the fast pace. Her color is red roan and she has the greatest personality. She is also used for training new drivers on occasion and pulls the wagon with Mac in parades. Watch for the 2 of them in the Chicago Xmas parade on Thanksgiving morning, pulling the wagon full of presents behind the 8 horses representing Santa's reindeer on WGN TV 9 - 11 am..

''Mighty Mouse''

Mighty Mouse is a gorgeous 18 yr old, 33.5" miniature stallion from Fryslan farms in McHenry. He is AMHR registered and thinks he's a mini Fresian, since he's been around them all his life. Three of our babies were fathered by him (Nemo, Tryton and Twylite).

"Mirage"

Mirage is 2.5 years old and is a real cutie. He has been shown at the 4-H fair in a halter class and is now in training to drive with the team. He has been to a couple of events to learn about the new sights and sounds. He will continue to go to some events and will be walked in parades. Next year we hope to find the right driver for him to start driving with the drill team.

"Dante"

Dante is a yearling who came from the same farm as Mirage. He leads and is being played with and was shown in the 4-H fair in August. We'll take him to mini events when possible, to get him used to the noise and people. He is currently for sale as we have our hands full with the rest of the minis.

"Firedancer"

Firedancer is a 34" 2.5 yr old gelding acquired recently. He goes over and around various obstacles and has learned how to drive. He is for sale, though, since he is not interested in moving out at the fast trot that is needed for the drill team. He is real eye catching and loves to show himself off, but he would be good with new or young drivers as he is not in a hurry when hitched to the cart.

"Twylite "

Twylite was born in April '07 and will be raised with the team and trained to drive when she is old enough. She's a sweet filly who was sired by Mighty Mouse. Her mother was a blue roan mare who came all the way from Iowa. She has since been sold to a 4-H girl in southern IL. Twytile was shown at the 4-H fair last August in halter and is now just learning manners.
